| October 12, 1930 | There
are ten thousand kinds of courage. This picture illustrates one, a rare
kind–courage to walk straight in the direction of DUTY. With the band playing and crowds applauding, MANY will risk their lives. Is that courage? With no one to applaud and no one to see, a FEW will act as “courageously” as though all the world were watching. That IS real courage. What part does courage play in the life and progress of men? Where should we be without it: what has it achieved in past history: what can it do for us individually? It is one of the great forces that make up the complicated strugglings of human beings. |
