are the achievements of this nation, small in the beginning, marvelously
great and powerful today. Many are the accomplishments of human genius that built railroads across the continent, a canal from ocean to ocean, gigantic factories, airships, submarines. But the greatest of all national achievements is THE AMERICAN PUBLIC SCHOOL. It is greatest in PRESENT good, greatest in FUTURE power. Work for the schools and you work for the nation, work for education, and you work against superstition and all the hatred and vice based on ignorance. |
